The Best Apps That I've Discovered in 2020

Even though we have been on our phones more often than usual this year (since ya know...a whole pandemic and such), good things can come out of being on your phone. I have discovered many apps this year that I believe are the best. I have used this apps daily, if not weekly, and I highly suggest anyone who reads this blog post to try out the download links below & get the app themselves! My recommendations are based on experience and overall personal opinion of the app.

This blog post is NOT SPONSORED. All opinions are my own.

I have broken up the 2020 app round-up post into categories:

Who's ready to find out the best apps that I've discovered in 2020?

Leisure

Among Us

If you have not heard of the game Among Us, you are a little behind the loop! Even though this app was created in 2018, it became a major hit this year as 2020 brought people to socialize through digital means. Among Us has become such a major hit that it won the Multiplayer Game of the Year & Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2020, earlier in December.

I usually play this game with my husband & I in a random lobby. This game is so much fun to play with people over Discord, FaceTime, Duo, any kind of talking software honestly! Even if you don't play this game with friends, you are bound to make some new friends when you play in a random lobby.

Does anyone else HATE being the imposter?? Just me?

Among Us is available to download on Android and Apple.

Redecor

I've always wanted to decorate my entire house with a certain theme or vision in mind, but I just don't have the budget to do it. Then comes along Redecor, a design game filled with daily design challenges that you get to complete & also vote on other designs.

I actually had this app recommended to me on an Instagram ad, and the ad worked! I love playing this game, and actually turn to it when I want to wind down in the evenings. Each design challenge has a time limit for voting, where people who play the app across the world can vote on how well you did your design among other players.

Luna Story III

If you don't know what a nonogram is, then this app will help you figure it out. A nonogram is a picture logic puzzle, where you strategically color in cells in a grid in order to make an image. I first played with nonograms on my Peak Brain Training app (mentioned below), and I loved completing them during my daily brain exercise.

What I love about Luna Story III is that the interface is beautiful & calming, it includes a "puzzle save" feature, and it has more features when it comes to getting hints as opposed to other nonogram game apps.

I highly suggest anyone who likes puzzles & logic to try out this nonogram app for yourself.

Zentris

If the name Zentris sounds familiar to you, that's because it is. Zentris is a game designed to be like Tetris, but zen (hence the name Zentris). Just like Tetris, Zentris is placing block shapes to create & clear vertical and horizontal lines but in a zen way. I don't like how stressed out I get when the tiles fall in Tetris, so I love how this game approaches the classic in a way that is not so overwhelming.

Productivity

ClickUp

I am obsessed with organization, especially when it comes to a digital sense. I've needed extra assistance this year with keeping my work, personal life and blogging tasks all in one place. I guess I have a sense of object permanence, where I need to see the tasks in order to know that they need to be done.

ClickUp is an extreme organization app, based on spaces and tasks. You can break up your life into different spaces, such as work & personal life, and put different tasks into those spaces to feel more organized. I even use ClickUp to plan out my blog posts!

ClickUp is available for download on Android and Apple.

Canva

I have raved about Canva for the longest time, and have made multiple blog posts about it & the amazing editing capabilities it has for all sorts of digital content. Check out the blog posts below for a more in-depth description about Canva.

But let me just tell you now, if you love being creative digitally, you'll love this app!

Pigments

Since I design a lot of digital content, I try to keep my color schemes in one place where I can consistently refer to them when I need to. Pigments is an amazing color scheme app, where you can store color schemes with multiple colors & save them by name. One of the best parts about the app is that it gives you the RGB value, the HEX code & the HSL code for each color you pick automatically.

How cool is that? If you love digital design & consistently refer to colors for your desired aesthetic, you need to download this app ASAP.

Pigments is available for download on Android only.

Wellness

Clue

If you are a person who has a period, this app will be the hub for you and your period needs. Clue is a period app that can track many things, such as your cycle time, your daily symptoms, and also your fertility. I feel like it is very important for anyone who experiences a period to download this app, or any sort of period tracking app.

The education is severely lacking in our public school system with talking about sexual education, especially when it comes to the personal aspect of a person dealing with periods.

Clue is available for download on Android and Apple.

GoodApp

Have you ever wanted to download a self-care app, but remembered that you already own 10 that you don't even use? If that is the case, I believe GoodApp will solve all of your problems, as it is 20+ self-care devices all stored in one app! Some would call the Swiss Army Knife of the self-improvement world.

The description on the Google Play Store reads:

Good App is a self-improvement and personal growth apps suite, helps you to become a better version of yourself and improve your quality of life. You can use it for Personal Growth, Self Discipline, Self Control, Focus & Productivity, Motivation, Learning, Brain games, Stress buster. There is something for everyone in good app.

I love this app, and I highly recommend every Android user to download it. I am not sure when it will be available for Apple users. But hopefully soon!

BODY by Blogilates

Cassey Ho, the creator of Blogilates, is someone I have been following on the internet for many years now. On her YouTube and her Instagram page, you can clearly see that she has a strong passion for fitness. With that strong passion, she released an app called BODY by Blogilates, which is a free fitness app that includes dozens of workouts & programs to join for fitness motivation. There is a strong community within the Blogilates group, and the workouts are manageable and have accommodations for flexibility and such.

I highly recommend for anyone who needs a new fitness source to download BODY by Blogilates.

Pixels

I have always loved the mood trackers that people draw in their bullet journals, but I felt like making the mood tracker was too much for me. Then, along came Pixels and my mood tracker problems were solved. Pixels is an easy to navigate app to simply describe the type of day you are having, or have had. You can customize the reminder time to best reflect when you have the availability to think about what has happened that day.

You can choose a simple emoji face for your mood, or you can expand on it by adding text. I love this mood tracker, and it is so simple that I do it everyday.

PEAK Brain Training

For my brain, I feel like I constantly need to be improving on my memory and brain exercises. The PEAK Brain Training app is an amazing app that customizes brain exercises to what you want to focus on, whether it is memory recall, facial recognition, mathematics and more.

I pay for the monthly subscription on the app store, which equals about $5 or so, because I truly believe that this app has helped me with my memory and other aspects of my brain that I have been wanting to work on for years.

Miscellaneous

Recipe Keeper

I am not sure how I found this app, but I am so glad I did. Basically, Recipe Keeper is an app that can store recipes from links automatically. I have been wanting an app like this for so long, since I have 4 Pinterest food boards, and it is hard to find a recipe at points. You can organize the recipes you keep by meal type, ingredients and more.

I love that this app also has a shopping list section, where it will automatically break up the grocery list item by section in the store. This makes grocery shopping so much easier, I swear!

Recipe Keeper is available for download on Android and Apple.

Fetch Rewards

I might have saved the best app for last! This app has earned me almost $9 in cash that can be redeemed for hundreds of gift cards, just from scanning every receipt I get. The purpose of the Fetch Rewards app is simple - scan every receipt that you receive & you will gain points from the items on that receipt. You can get points in so many ways, other than scanning your receipts! For example, if you sign up with someone's referral code, both you and the referee will gain points! Sometimes between 2,000-4,000 points!

This app's point system is $1 = 1,000 points. Once you reach 5,000 or 10,000 points, you can redeem those points for gift cards from multiple retailers that are worth $5 and $10. $15 would be worth 15,000 points, for example.

If you use my code UGYUQ or sign up using this link, you will get 2,000 points when you scan your first receipt. That is a free $2 for scanning any receipt! You would be silly not to download this app.

Fetch Rewards is available for download on Android and Apple.

Which app (mentioned above) are you interested in downloading now?
