4 Ways to Interior Decorate for the Holidays on a Budget

In the United States, there are a lot of different holidays celebrated throughout the year. I love decorating for the seasonal holidays, such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas. So how does one decorate their interior spaces for the holidays, but on a budget? That is what today’s blog post is all about! I am going to tell you about 4 ways to interior decorate for the holidays on a budget. Let’s get into it!

#1: Any Type of Dollar Store

Whether you are shopping at Dollar General, Dollar Tree, or another kind of off-brand dollar store, these stores will be your best friend. Not only is their candy cheaper (with sometimes more variety than the grocery store), but their seasonal decorations are always so cute and cheap! I have a tiered tray on my TV stand below my mounted TV, and I like to decorate this tiered tray with different seasonal decorations.

I can manage to get a cute, decorative bowl to hold candy, an assortment of candy, and seasonal decorations for around $10. Depending on your budget, you can go as big or as small as you want at the dollar store.

#2: Craft Stores are the best

Depending on your local craft store, they can hold weekly coupons in their print ad or on their app. I love using the Michael’s app and visiting my local Michael’s, since I always can find unique seasonal decorations without paying an arm and a leg. More often times than not, Michael’s has a coupon for a certain percentage off of full-price items. I have also seen coupons that combine with the shelf-coupon, meaning double coupons for you!

Don’t sleep on your local craft store. They might have more for your interior decorating needs than you think.

#3: Have a rotating cycle of seasonal wreaths

You can either buy or make your own seasonal wreaths, but this is one of the easiest ways to decorate your interior for the holidays. If you can manage to DIY a customer dollar-store wreath, then props to you! I have tried to make a Minnie Mouse inspiried fall leaf wreath that I hung on my front door from September-November. I eventually want to make a whole year’s worth of Minnie Mouse inspired wreaths to rotate throughout the year of seasonal holidays.

I think it would be so cute to have a Minnie Mouse inspired Valentine’s Wreath, Easter, or even St. Patrick’s Day! If you don’t know what I mean by a Minnie Mouse inspired wreath, let me explain. If you buy a 12” wreath ring and two smaller 6” wreath rings, superglue them in position to the larger wreath ring like Minnie’s ears, and voila! You have a Minnie Mouse inspired wreath. I have seen Dollar Tree and Michael’s with wreath rings available in store. If you are lucky, you can also find super glue or a glue gun!

#4: Your local grocery store

Okay hear me out…the grocery store in your local area probably has some flowers right? Maybe some seasonal snacks? Or stuffed animals? These are great decorating items to decorate your interior spaces for the holidays. I love getting the cute, seasonal snacks to fill up a snack bowl on my tiered tray. We grab these snacks from time to time, but they are also extremely adorable for decoration.

I reside in North Carolina, so my local grocery stores are Food Lion and Harris Teeter. You can compare these grocery stores to a Kroger. Sometimes, if you sign up for your local grocery store’s reward/loyalty program, you can receive special promotions pre-loaded onto your loyalty card, or in your email (depending on how you sign up for the program). I know that Harris Teeter, for example, has their VIC card and also their eVIC program, where you get special deals emailed to you that are not directly advertised on the shelf. For example, on the shelf Pepsi products could be full price, but your eVIC email shows that they are actually 4/$10, since you are an eVIC customer.

Try to investigate and see if your local grocery store has a reward program you can sign up for to get weekly & monthly deals!
