3 Ways to Organize Your Life

If you know me personally or watch me on my Instagram stories, you would know that I tend to keep my life organized in some matter. I cannot function without sort of organization - whether it be digital or physical. It's like I'm a chicken running around with its' head cut off; I have no sense of direction. Today on Inspired by Diane, I am telling you all about 3 ways to organize your life. These are ways that have worked for me for months & years, and I wanted to share them all with you on my blog. Organization should be for the many! Not for the few! So let's get organized...

Way #1 - Notion

I teased on last week's blog post that I would make a blog post including Notion, and here it is! I discovered Notion a few years ago actually, but it didn't become popular until recently when people started blowing up on TikTok for their Notion templates and organization tips within Notion.

If you don't know what Notion is, let me break it down for you.

According to their video on YouTube linked here, Notion is a single space where you can think, write and plan. It is an application that provides different components (such as pages, databases, gallery views, calendars and more) which can be customized to the user's desired use. You can use Notion to run a small business, or even a blog (just like I do!)

The most efficient way I use Notion is to divide up my life into "workspaces," for lack of a better term.

My workspaces include:

  • weekly agenda

  • Inspired by Diane (my wellness/lifestyle blog)

  • personal life

  • freelance

  • life dashboard

I would love to go further into depth about how I actually organize these workspaces (if you are interested, let me know in the comments!) But this blog post would be scrolling for forever if I included that within this current blog post.

You can break up Notion into whatever you want to make you feel organized digitially. It's free to use, available on Apple and Android, and is usable on Mobile, Desktop or Tablet. Try it out today, and let me know how you like it!

Way #2 - Bullet Journaling

If you are more of a tactile person, and need to physically write down your to-do lists and any running appointments or schedules, then bullet journaling might be the best route for you. There are so many resources online for ways to customize your bullet journal in your own, creative way.

For me personally, I love watching AmandaRachLee on YouTube. She is so inspirational to me. Her voice is so soothing, and she is so amazingly talented at the monthly spreads she creates within her bullet journal. She even made her own line of bullet journals and washi tape - how cool is that? You can check out her channel here to see all of the amazing, creative content she puts out.

Anyhow, I would suggest going to your local craft store, such as a Michael's or a Jo-Ann's, and look for the journal section. Odds are, you will find a journal that has a dotted grid. I prefer to write in a dotted grid, rather than a college ruled journal so that I can have more freedom when it comes to making my weekly and daily spreads.

The world is truly your oyster when it comes to your bullet journal. You can make it as Plain Jane as you want, or the most eccentric thing you have ever seen before. No matter how you craft it, make this bullet journal your own & organize it in a way that makes sense for your life. Maybe you want to write down your work schedules for the month, meal plan for the week, and write down any upcoming appointments. You can do that all within your bullet journal!

Try it out and let me know what you think!

Way #3 - A Wall Calendar

Since we have been in a pandemic for over a year now, it is easy to confuse your Monday's with your Thursday's, since all days feel the same now. I have found it extremely helpful to transfer the main events and schedules from my digital organization onto my wall calendar. Every morning, it becomes a part of my morning routine to cross off yesterday on the calendar, look at what is in store for me today on the calendar and in my Notion, and then proceed with my morning routine.

I found a great, affordable dry erase wall calendar for less than $10 at Walmart by the brand U-Brands. I'll link it here for you, in case you would also like to purchase it for yourself. Not only do I write my schedule on the dry erase wall calendar, but my husband's schedule as well. That way, we can each see what eachother has planned to do for that day at a quick glance before we walk out the front door.
