Anniversary Time

Three years ago today...Garrett asked me to be his girlfriend. One year ago today...Garrett got down on one knee and proposed to me.

Today we celebrate two anniversaries in one, and the overwhelming love I am feeling today is quite literally knocking me off my feet. I would never have imagined that I would be where I am today -- but I can safely say that I am 100% happy with where my life is now.

Ever since our first date back in December '14, I have been completely myself around Garrett. Every interaction I have had with him since the moment I met him nothing has been shy of perfect. He even loved how I didn't care about bodily functions like burps because that's life. On our second date, I high-fived Garrett at dinner for a great burp. Now that is love people.

Long-distance was hard for a couple of months until Garrett graduated college and moved closer to me. I wrote a LOT of poetry to send to Garrett during the rough times apart when all we wanted to do was be right beside each other. Even after the constant 45-minute drives to-and-from our houses, we made it through all the hard months + distance. Garrett and I eventually moved into our own place in May '16 so I could finish my Bachelor's Degree at ECU.

Have I mentioned how I love how much he does for me?

Garrett doesn't realize it, but he deserves a lot more credit than he's getting for how much he has changed with, and for, me. Plus, he has made me the proudest companion I could ever be a lifelong partner.

The fact that Garrett was so romantic and creative enough to make our boyfriend/girlfriend spot into our Engagement spot is just that extra love bonus I get since I get to live with him. And on our anniversary this year, Garrett surprised me with an HP Pavilion x360, basically a laptop/tablet hybrid which was an amazing surprise + a super amazing stylus that is compatible with all the drawing/logo ideas I have for Inspired for Diane.

I can't even begin to map out the path of our crazy relationship, but I can explain how Garrett has changed my life in a few ways:

  • He's made me a more loving person

  • I've learned to step back and realize my emotions

  • I've learned to relax and not stress out 24/7

  • He's taught me SO MUCH about sports...so much

  • He's helped me become the best dog mom I can be

  • He showed me what falling in love feels like

  • I tried real fruits and veggies and enjoyed them

  • I am still learning to be comfortable in my skin

  • He has always helped me become more confident

  • He always makes me feel like the most beautiful woman ever

And a million more ways that I can't begin to count. I love my fiancé more than words could ever describe, and our love grows stronger every day. Nothing is better than the welcome party I get when I come home -- and I wouldn't change this life for anything.

I love you Garrett, and I cannot wait to make 2018 our year!!
