Week at My Work: Effortlessly Chic

Working a full-time job for the past year has changed my perspective on work-wear, and what I could wear in the workplace that was considered appropriate. But I also like to be comfy when I work - no one wants to wear a tight pencil skirt to work without any breathing room. Therefore, I curated this style post to show my effortlessly chic outfits from a week at my work. If you’d like to get inspired by some fashion, keep on reading! Let’s get started…

What a better way to start off your week than in a comfy outfit!

It’s never easy to get out of the bed in the morning, especially on Monday’s. So why not be comfy on the first work-day of the week?

This outfit consists of:

  • black t-shirt dress

  • black-and-white men’s flannel

  • Target brand “birkenstocks”

  • silver necklace

The reason I love this outfit so much is because it is monochromatic, extremely comfy, and lets me move freely. The flannel is also a great piece to this outfit because it allows me to hide my post-lunch food baby. So it’s a win-win!

Kimonos can truly turn a basic outfit into something chic. Effortlessly chic, if you will.

This outfit consists of:

  • kimono from Charming Charlie

  • black camisole

  • bralette

  • skinny jeans

  • brown booties

As you can see, my Tuesday outfit is the basics combined with a fun, flowery piece. It’s also great if you can color match different parts of your outfit. With this outfit, I matched the coral color in my bralette with the slight coral accents in my kimono. This makes your outfit feel so much more put-together!

I may have matched my outfit slightly to my sweet tea, but it is still a cute outfit!

Skin-tight leggings that look like pants are one of my favorite pieces to wear to work. It looks like you’re wearing pants, but in reality you are comfy as can be.

This outfit consists of:

  • beige button-down shirt

  • olive skin-tight leggings

  • brown booties

I love that this outfit shows some neutral earth-tone colors, which is why I wanted to pose alongside this brick wall behind my work. Gotta do whatever you can to get the picture, right? Also… button-down shirts don’t have to be just for men. Women can rock button-down shirts too! Just make sure you make your outfit your own with different hairstyles & accessories. Have fun with it!

Like I mentioned in my Tuesday outfit, picking out colors from one piece of your outfit and mixing it with another piece will make it look like you really put thought into your outfit.

For this outfit, I liked the black hidden in the dress, so I paired my dress with these black slip-on sandals. And I picked the green out of the dress to match with the background I wanted in the picture. Now this photo looks very stylized and completely instagramable.

This outfit consists of:

  • black & green patterned dress from Charming Charlie

  • black slip-on sandals from Target

I love wearing dresses because it takes the guess work out of matching your tops with your bottoms. This also goes for rompers/jumpsuits! You truly can look effortlessly chic by putting on a dress and wearing some cute sandals to match.

I feel like my Friday outfit resembled my Monday outfit, but in a more grungy way. I like how the flannel & necklace really pop on top of the black ensemble I have.

This outfit consists of:

  • black skater dress from Marshall’s

  • pink flannel

  • rose gold pendant necklace

  • black booties

You can also style the flannel in different ways, to make your one outfit look like multiple outfits. For instance, you can leave the flannel hanging off the shoulder, for a more relaxed look. You could roll the sleeves up to get some work done, or you can tie it around your waist like my Monday outfit. Let your clothing work for you, and your confidence is sure to shine through.
