We Tried Different Personality Tests for Compatibility…and Here’s What We Found Out

Personality tests can be an insight to who you are as a person, and how your personality traits can determine why you perform actions the way that you do. So I wanted to find out if personality tests can be a way to find out if your personality traits are compatible with your partner. My husband, Garrett, took some convincing to complete these personality tests, but we finally did it! I’ve linked all the personality tests taken below, and how each of our results compares with each other.

Drum roll for the first personality test…

Free Personality Test | 16 Personalities

We first took this free personality test on 16 Personalities to see what our personality types were first.

Garrett’s answer: INFP-T

Diane’s answer: ENFP-A

One thing I found out on the internet, which I find completely true in our relationship, is that “the ENFP and INFP personalities can really do great together and become an unstoppable team if they're open minded and cooperative. However there's one difference between the two personalities. One is peaceful and quiet and the other put themselves out their while bringing others with them” (source). The website claims that this test takes about 12 minutes to complete.

The Enneagram Personality Test | Truity

The next personality test was the Ennegram Personality test on Truity to see how our Ennegram types would match up.

Garrett’s answer: Enneagram #6, The Skeptic

Diane’s answer: Enneagram #7, The Enthusiast

I completely agree that Garrett is a 6, while I am a 7. Garrett is preoccupied with security, seeks safety, and likes to be prepared for problems. While I want to have as much fun and adventure as possible, and I get easily bored. The website claims that this website takes about 10 minutes to complete, but I say that it is closer to 15 minutes.

Two: 81% Diane, 74% Garrett

Three: 58% Diane, 79% Garrett

Four: 64% Diane, 96% Garrett

Five: 53% Diane, 91% Garrett

Six: 43% Diane, 98% Garrett

Seven: 98% Diane, 41% Garrett

Eight: 60% Diane, 94% Garrett

Nine: 78% Diane, 57% Garrett

One: 57% Diane, 48% Garrett

Couples Quiz | The 5 Love Languages

The third personality test was the Couples Quiz on 5LoveLanguages. You can take this test as an individual, but I feel like since we are a couple, it would be more appropriate to take the couples quiz. This quiz took about 10 minutes to complete.

Garrett’s answer: Quality Time

Words of Affirmation: 27%

Receiving Gifts: 0%

Physical Touch: 17%

Quality Time: 30%

Acts of Service: 17%

Diane’s answer: Words of Affirmation

Words of Affirmation: 33%

Receiving Gifts: 7%

Physical Touch: 17%

Quality Time: 20%

Acts of Service: 23%

Extraversion-Introversion Test | PsychCentral

Now, this test caught my eye when I was researching which personality tests we should take for this blog post. I personally believe that I am an extrovert, while my husband is an introvert. But we wanted to see if the Extraversion-Introversion Test on PsychCentral would show us otherwise.

Garrett’s answer: 64% Extraversion, 44% Introversion

Diane’s answer: 64% Extraversion, 19% Introversion

We didn’t really like this test, as it was really short and we didn’t believe that it was entirely accurate. There are plenty of other personality tests out there to see how introverted or extroverted you are. This quiz took 2 minutes to complete.

The ultimate decider of how compatible you and your partner on is YOU, not a personality test.

But they are fun to do every once in a while, and can bring about a fun evening of conversation.

Feel free to try out the personality tests linked above, and let me know how you score!
